Algorithms are shaping our experience of the world. This original research looks at how we live with algorithms right now, and how we can make algorithms more liveable in the near future.
We may not be able to define the term algorithm, but we know it when we see it. Algorithms are personalizing our experience with technology, but are there recognizing our humanity? That's what we aimed to find out.
Through a series of interviews and exercises, we asked people to reflect on the algorithms in their lives and learn more about their algorithmic selves. An algorithm can be a friend or a foe, a stalker or a sidekick, but the best algorithms grow and change with us over time. The future of algorithms—whether feed or chatbot or recommendation—will invite human collaboration.
